Meet Martyna
Hi, I'm Martyna- a qualified and IACP accredited psychotherapist in Ireland.
You can be experiencing a variety of emotions right now. I can well recall this journey. I admire your determination to make changes in your life.

If you are reading through this, you are most likely considering starting therapy yourself or trying to help someone you care about. I know that can be very overwhelming. I started Pensieve Counselling and Psychotherapy practice with people like you in mind. Whether you are feeling completely lost in your life right now or confused after some setback, I aim to support you on your journey to find yourself again, or possibly for the first time. I decided to name my practice Pensieve, a word sourced from books about Harry Potter that describe a shallow stone basin into which memories can be poured and revisited. Just like in the therapy process, together we can revisit your past and find coping mechanisms that you learned as a child but that are no longer working and replace them with new, more helpful ones.
The process of therapy isn't only about focusing on your past. I like how the word pensieve can be easily taken for ''pensive'', which also applies to processes we experience in therapy. We can also reflect on what is present in order to give ourselves insight into what we are experiencing and how we can improve it.

If you wish, you can contact me to schedule a free 15-minute talk to see if we might be a good fit; however, I understand that you may not be ready just yet. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have, and I will be happy to answer them.
I wish you luck and hope you will find what you're looking for.
Am I right for you?
There is no simple answer to this question, as it depends on what you would like to get out of counselling. My goal is to help you shift the way you view yourself and to help you learn to react differently to both internal and external challenges.
I offer a supportive space where you are free to open up and safely explore all aspects of yourself and the situations you are facing. I am open to hearing your genuine beliefs, emotions, and actions without judgement. Some of them we might be meeting in person for the first time.
I understand that people are different and have different needs. Some people could require a soothing or gentle challenge, while others might need time to identify their true wants.
I highly value your autonomy and aim to do my best to tune into your world—for you to feel heard, appreciated, and validated for who you are. I believe that is often where the healing process starts, and sometimes that's all that's needed. If it isn't, then we'll cooperate to find an alternative approach to living in your reality.
How I work
I use a humanistic and integrative approach, which means I am inspired by a variety of theories and techniques, and I also believe that each person has the ability to define their own personal growth and progress.
In my work, depending on your needs, I integrate cognitive-behavioural, emotion-focused, and mindfulness-based techniques. I let you choose the way we work: listening and supporting you where you are at this particular time, looking into the past, or a more cognitive, solution-focused way with assigned home exercises to help you develop new coping strategies.
